Sunday, April 17 starts out at 10 am with a 500 m kayak race ($5 entry) with provided identical kayaks and a $500 prize to the winner. At 1 pm there will be a 7 and 13 mile canoe and kayak race ($5entry) on the Homosassa, Halls and Price rivers . Ribbons and honor are the prizes for this race. It is a Florida Competitive Paddlers Association points race so there should be some stiff competition. Lots of categories for different boats, ages and sexes.

The kayak sprint is about 500 meters, up around a sign in the river and back. Every contestant will use the 10 identical kayaks with identical paddles. We want to find the fastest paddlers without the equipment being a factor. We will start heats as soon as the first 4 paddlers sign up after 9 AM and will hold heats until all paddlers have raced. The winners of the heats will go against each other after the heats are finished, about 11:30. Only one winner, man or woman. So if you get here by 10 AM you can still get in.
